Accra, Oct. 19, GNA – The Government Technical Training Centre (GTTC) in collaboration with the National Drivers Academy (NDA) has organized simulator-based training for 73 recruited female drivers for the Ayalolo buses.

The initiative, also in partnership with Safe Drive Innovations and SCANIA Bus Rapid Transit was to equip the drivers through modern technology to ensure safety on roads.

This would promote safe driving and reduce the number of road carnages in the country.

Mr. Constant Tsedzah, the Acting Principal, Government Technical Training Centre and National Drivers Academy, stated during a facility visit in Accra to inspect the simulator device and training of the drivers, said statistics had shown that female drivers were more conscious on roads than males hence the project to reduce road accidents.

He said fuel efficiency, fire-fighting, vehicle knowledge, how to handle various categories of vehicles, accident scenes, defensive driving, and hardware training were some of the areas the training would cover.

Mr. Tsedzah said the training they were embarking on conforms to the road traffic regulations act, which seeks to promote safety and ensure that crisis and road accidents did not occur especially as the country drew closer to the festive season.
